Application
Adopting one of these dogs is the best way to help us reach our goal of saving as many hounds as we can. The first step in adopting your new best friend is applying! Even if you haven’t found the right fit yet, apply and let us know what you are looking for and we will try to match you to your ideal dog. We have many hounds that are not yet listed because they are awaiting final vetting.
THE PROCESS
Once you have submitted your application to foster for TLS, it is automatically sent to our application processing team.
TLS will reach out to you to establish contact and to coordinate the application process.
Each individual over the age of 18 in your household will be subject to a background check.
We will conduct a home visit (in person or virtual) to ensure a good fit.
If you live in an apartment or rental property, the management company will be asked if it is okay for you to have a dog in your home.
If you already have pets, a vet check will be required. A TLS volunteer will ask your vet if your pet is up to date on necessary vaccines, has been spayed/neutered, and is on a heartworm preventative regimen.
The London Sanctuary will review the application and, if approved, we will coordinate meet-n-greet and/or finalization of the adoption.
Lastly, your new best friend will be scheduled for transport or pick up to start your life together!

ADOPTION FAQ’S
How long does the application process take?
Our goal is to process all applications in one to two weeks. The TLS volunteers work hard to complete all the necessary screenings in a timely fashion but items like the home visit are based upon availability of the prospective adopter and our volunteers.
Why does TLS do a background check & home visit?
Our mission is to make long-lasting placements for all of our hounds. We believe that a thorough screening will ensure finding the best fit for each dog, which will lead to a lifetime of happiness!
Why is the adoption fee a range?
Our fees are assessed based on the age and medical needs of the hound.
is the adoption fee refundable?
Our adoption fees are refundable for two weeks after placement. After two weeks, if the adoption is not working out, you are required under our agreement to return the hound to us but the adoption fee is not refundable.
What happens if my hound and I aren’t working out?
Within the first two weeks, provided you return the items noted in the agreement, you will receive a full refund of the adoption fee upon return of the hound. After two weeks, if you want to return the hound you adopted, the adoption fee is no longer refundable.Thankfully due to our careful vetting this rarely happens.
